Hydration
is a Science.

Hydration isn't just important. It's crucial.
The quality of the water you drink is equally crucial.

LUMA 1.0

Luma 1.0 is our debut product. It is a stainless steel, double-wall vacuum insulated water bottle that integrates UV-C light technology to eradicate up to 99.99% of microorganisms from the unit's water contents in just 60 seconds.

How it Works:

  • Luma is activated with the press of its power button located on the underpart of the unit's base.

  • Activating Luma triggers its sterilization cycle, during which the UV-C light source within the unit activates for 60 seconds.

  • During the sterilization cycle, the presence of any bacteria or microorganisms existing in the unit's water contents become exposed to energy emitted from the UV-C light source, which ultimately neutralize the cells.

  • The 60-second sterilization cycle results in a reduction of up to 99.99% of bacterial presence, which is also the equivalent of boiling water for 20 minutes.

An Explanation of UV-C Light

  • UV-C light, with a wavelength of 200-280 nanometers, is highly energetic and can penetrate harmful microorganisms.

  • When UV-C light penetrates these organisms, it targets their DNA or RNA.

  • It modifies the DNA or RNA structure, specifically by causing a photoreaction that leads to the formation of pyrimidine dimers.

  • This process disrupts the microorganism's ability to replicate.

  • With their reproduction inhibited, the bacteria, viruses, and other microorganisms cannot multiply even if they remain in the water.

  • Consequently, even though the organisms are not physically removed from the water, they are rendered harmless as they can no longer cause infections.

UV-C Light

UV-C light filters water by exposing it to short-wavelength ultraviolet light, which destroys or inactivates microorganisms by damaging their DNA, thus ensuring the water is disinfected.

Tap Water

Quality of tap water is dependent on aa number of variables, but may contain contaminants such as bacteria, viruses, heavy metals, and other pollutants that can pose health risks when consumed.

Bottled Water

Bottled water poses risks to potential contamination from the plastic bottle itself, which can leach hormone disrupting chemicals like bisphenol A (BPA) or polyethylene terephthalate (PET) into the water.

Bottle Sanitation

Maintaining proper bottle sanitation is important. Traditional reusable bottles are a breeding ground for harmful bacteria and mold, which can lead to gastrointestinal issues and other illnesses if ingested.

Sustainability

Plastic is a remarkably enduring substance. It doesn't go away. In fact, virtually all the plastic mankind has ever produced is ultimately still existing, largely in the form of microplastics

Plastics don't decompose. Instead, they fragment into smaller and smaller pieces over time, to the point of living in the form of microscopic fibers, otherwise known as microplastics. These microplastics have made their way to every corner of our planet. The longer we continue to rely on plastics, the more irreversible damage we do to our environment.

It isn't pretty, and neither is our future without a dramatic change.
